To explore the future of clean fuel, the Green Hydrogen Summit 2025 kicked off today on the fifth day of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, which will continue until Saturday, January 18.

The third edition of the Green Hydrogen Summit 2025 reflects Abu Dhabi's achievements and ambitions to become a leading global center for investment and development in the field of green hydrogen. It also provides a platform for the world's leading hydrogen companies to meet and exchange views on accelerating the pace of the hydrogen economy.

The summit featured an interview with Suhail Mohamed Faris Al Mazrouei, the UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, discussing regulations and business models that work to break down trade barriers, open new markets, facilitate import/export, and establish hydrogen as a global commercial commodity.

During the interview, Suhail Al Mazrouei confirmed that Abu Dhabi and the UAE have been at the forefront of supporting sustainability even before many countries recognized its importance.

He noted that since the establishment of Masdar Company and Masdar City in 2006, the UAE's leadership has put its early interest in sustainability into practice.

He added that the increase in energy demand associated with the growth of artificial intelligence will make green hydrogen an important contributor in the future.

He affirmed that the UAE has demonstrated its interest and capability to become one of the leaders in the green hydrogen market, as well as one of its most prominent organizers, investors, and promoters, making it one of the most important sources of low-carbon energy.

During the event, global leaders and industry experts discussed market-impacting events and ways to accelerate the rapid expansion of green hydrogen production for a more sustainable world.

Carlos Gasco, Executive Director of Energy Policy at the Department of Energy—Abu Dhabi, opened the summit with a keynote address. He discussed Abu Dhabi's role in promoting an innovative hydrogen development system and highlighted recent partnerships and initiatives led by the Ministry of Energy.

Ivana Gimmelková, the executive director of the Hydrogen Council, gave a speech after this in which she outlined strategies for accelerating the global green hydrogen revolution.

This unique summit highlights the latest sector trends and developments in the field of green hydrogen production, conversion, transportation, storage, and utilization.

The summit focuses on promoting dialogue and stimulating the development of effective solutions through interactive sessions, which include holding high-level discussions, side dialogues, and a series of working sessions that aim to achieve outputs and results.
