The first events of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025 kicked off on Sunday with the convening of the 15th session of the General Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, is the patron of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025, which aims to accelerate international efforts for economic and social development.

The events of the week hosted by Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company "Masdar" continue from today until January 18, 2025, in Abu Dhabi, bringing together global leaders and experts.

The Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) will host the week's opening ceremony on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.

"IRENA" Meeting

On Sunday, the 15th session of the General Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) commenced under the theme "Accelerating the Renewable Energy Transition - The Way Forward," with the participation of high-level ministers and representatives from 170 member countries of the agency.

The meetings discuss opportunities to triple the renewable energy production capacity by 2030, support transformations in emerging economies, and find ways to deploy financial flows in developing countries.

Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week

Under the theme "Sector Integration for a Sustainable Future," Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025 aims to foster a dialogue among decision-makers, business leaders, and the community. This dialogue aims to accelerate the transition towards a sustainable economy and usher in a new phase of growth and prosperity that benefits everyone.

The event underscores the significance of establishing a link between advanced technology, specifically artificial intelligence, the energy sector, and human expertise to propel sustainable development and investigate prospects linked to this economic revolution, valued at over 10 trillion dollars.

For over 15 years, Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week has established itself as a leading platform for enhancing collaboration among various partners, finding solutions to global challenges, and accelerating the pace of development. It has witnessed the signing of important agreements and the formation of numerous strategic partnerships between governments, sector leaders, and the world's foremost clean energy companies, contributing to intensifying efforts and supporting the achievement of the global sustainability agenda.

Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025 works on discussing new ideas and transforming them into effective and tangible solutions, within its role of creating widespread positive change based on clear foundations and achieving connectivity between the sectors of energy, data, finance, trade, and natural ecosystems, which contributes to enhancing sustainable development efforts.

Weekly Events

The week's program offers high-level discussion sessions, forums, partner activities, and numerous events that enhance global interaction and dialogue on sustainability.

The annual meeting of the IRENA will continue on January 12 and 13, 2025, and the annual forum of the "Global Center on Climate Finance" will commence on January 13, 2025.

On January 14 and 15, the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week Summit will kick off with the participation of global leaders and a select group of experts, aiming to conduct discussions focused on enhancing effective partnerships and creating investment opportunities, followed by the "Green Hydrogen Summit" on January 16.

As one of the week's most prominent events, the "World Future Energy Summit" continues its role in business development and knowledge exchange from January 14 to 16.

Significant Deals

The summit has witnessed the signing of a large number of important deals over its past sessions. The 2024 session of the summit attracted 450 exhibiting companies.

The World Future Energy Summit 2025 includes an Innovation Center, which provides space for over 55 innovators and startups to showcase their leading technologies and innovations.

The annual Women's Forum on Sustainability, Environment, and Renewable Energy, taking place on the sidelines of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025, aims to enhance women's participation in the sustainability dialogue.

The Youth Forum and Center for Sustainability is attracting around 3,500 young men and women with the aim of engaging them in a dedicated three-day youth forum, which aims to activate their role, stimulate their innovation, and prepare them to become future leaders in the field of climate.

Zayed Sustainability Prize

The Zayed Sustainability Prize, launched by the UAE to honor pioneers who provide innovative solutions to global challenges, will hold a series of events during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025, including the Zayed Sustainability Prize award ceremony on January 14, 2025, and the "Investor Engagement" initiative.

The award aims to honor and empower innovators who aim to achieve a significant breakthrough in the fields of health, food, energy, water, climate action, and global high schools.

Over the past sixteen years, the award has honored 117 winners, whose solutions have positively impacted the lives of more than 384 million people worldwide, supported sustainable economic and social development, and enhanced access to reliable energy sources, safe drinking water, nutritious food, and affordable healthcare.
