The UAE has received numerous accolades during the 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) for its outstanding organization and management of COP28, which took place in Dubai last year. The conference resulted in significant achievements, culminating in the historic "UAE Agreement."

In his speech at COP29, Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of Mauritania, congratulated Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, for the excellent organization of COP28.

The Mauritanian President commended the impressive outcomes of COP28, including the agreement to activate the Climate Change Loss and Damage Fund. He also referenced the statements and announcements made during COP28 in Dubai.

At the end of 2023, the UAE hosted world leaders at COP28, amidst a landscape of diverse opinions on climate action and negotiations. The conference yielded the historic UAE Agreement, which reached consensus among the 198 parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. This agreement has been widely recognized as the most ambitious and inclusive accord since the Paris Agreement in 2015.

In recent decades, the UAE has solidified its role as a significant global player in climate action and as a supporter of sustainable and innovative solutions. Thanks to the vision and directives of its wise leadership, the UAE became the first country in the region to announce a strategic initiative aimed at achieving climate neutrality by 2050.
