Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates, attended the opening of the World Future Energy Summit 2025 on Tuesday in Abu Dhabi.

The summit, which lasts for three days, discusses ways to achieve global cooperation, innovation, and action with the presence and participation of world leaders, heads of government, and a group of ministers and policymakers in the energy sector who present their plans for the transformation of the energy sector and the circular economy.

The summit represents the main event of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, attracting the participation of 13 heads of state and more than 140 ministers and government officials, with the aim of driving economic, social, and technological progress and exploring opportunities related to economic transformation, valued at over $10 trillion.

Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology of the United Arab Emirates, said in his opening speech at the summit: "We stand between two worlds, one we know and another we are exploring its features and possibilities." He added that there are three powerful and influential factors, which come together to reshape and redefine our future in ways we could never have imagined.

First of these factors is the rise of emerging markets, which currently account for more than half of the world’s growth and prosperity. The second is the paradigm shift in the energy system, which is expanding the energy mix and creating entirely new sectors. Thirdly, the great development in artificial intelligence and its role in accelerating the pace of change, according to Al-Jaber.

Al-Jaber added that these combined trends are capable of driving progress and accelerating it at an unprecedented pace.

"Sector Integration for a Sustainable Future" is the title of this year's session, which features a diverse program of events including several keynote speeches and 34 discussion sessions with more than 70 speakers. The focus is on promoting constructive dialogue, cooperation, and finding viable and tangible solutions.

The summit highlights the importance of achieving a connection between advanced technology, especially artificial intelligence, and human expertise to drive sustainable development and build a prosperous future that includes everyone.

The summit gathers more than 30,000 participants, including government officials, industry leaders, and sustainability pioneers from around the world, forming an international platform to showcase the latest developments in the fields of renewable energy, green hydrogen, artificial intelligence, climate technology, circular economy principles, green finance, and sustainable cities.

The World Future Energy Summit 2025 offers a comprehensive program that includes interactive exhibitions and networking opportunities, with participation from over 400 exhibitors, each showcasing innovative solutions in the sectors of energy, water, and waste management.

The summit includes seven main tracks covering all aspects of the energy system, providing visitors, delegations, and exhibitors with the opportunity to gain in-depth insights into the latest developments and trends affecting various fields.

These tracks are the Solar and Clean Energy Exhibition and Conference, the Water Conference, the Eco West Exhibition, the Sustainable Cities Conference, the Sustainable Finance Conference, the Future of Transport Forum, in addition to the Road to 1.5 Degrees Conference.
