The Somali Deputy Prime Minister, Salah Jana, spoke to "The Earth Call" about the importance of climate financing for developing countries, including Somalia.
In exclusive statements, he said, "Our country is among those facing enormous impacts from climate change, but there is minimal investment in climate financing."
Jana added, speaking on efforts to reach an agreement on climate funding, "This is certainly our hope."
"Climate financing" holds a central position at the negotiation table of COP29, with this edition named the "Financial COP" as its primary goal is to reach an agreement on funds to support developing countries in dealing with climate-related costs.
COP29 aims to agree on a new collective quantitative target, which refers to a new annual climate finance goal set to take effect when the current $100 billion commitment expires at the end of this year. This is the top priority in the Baku negotiations, according to the UAE News Agency.
